WELCOME
TO MY BIOGRAPHY PAGE!
I
was born in July, 1946 in Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri.
My parents were Jewel E.
and Eva Lourine (Denny) Kitchen. My childhood was spent
in Puxico, Stoddard County, Missouri.
I graduated from Puxico High School in May of 1964. I
attended Southeast Missouri State
University from 1964 until June 1968 at which time I joined
the United States Marine Corps. I
was assigned to the 9th Marine Amphibious Brigade, Regimental
Landing Team 26 and went to Viet Nam
in December of 1968. I spent a year in Viet Nam in the
central highlands region near the City
of Da Nang. Upon my Return to the United States in December
1969 I was assigned to the Marine
Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California.
After
being discharged from the Marines as a Sergeant I went to work
for a small chain named Wal-Mart, which, at the time consisted of nine stores, only one of which was in Missouri. Wal-Mart
grew rapidly and I was promoted to
Store Manager after a short time. I managed
several stores in Arkansas and
Missouri . After many long hours and a divorce I left
Wal-Mart and became a Deputy Sheriff in
Mexico, Audrain County Missouri in 1978. The
Sheriff was ousted in 1980 and I was appointed
Sheriff for 60 days until an election could be held. I
failed to win the election. It was then that I realized
that a person with no more friends than I had really needed
to carry a gun!
After my dismal showing in the political
arena I joined the faculty at the Missouri Military Academy
for a year.
In
1980 I joined the Missouri National Guard and served for 19 years.
I retired with 25 years and 10
months total service. During that time I had several
jobs. Infantryman, Clerk, Nuclear/ Biological/Chemical
NCO, Combat Engineer, and Military Policeman. Since Retirement.
I live in Dexter, Stoddard County, Missouri. I am
married to the lovely Miss Kathy and have
3 daughters, 3 grand-daughters, a cat named Sylvester,
and a bird
named Beretta.
